Since the release of his self-confessed song Oliver Twist, D’banj leaves no one in doubt about the fact that he is no half-measure fellow. After ruling the Nigerian and African music scenes, he began his systematic quest to dominate the world, at the cost of exterminating the Mo’ Hits label, at the cost of losing his long-time producer-friend, Don Jazzy and against a background of simmering bad blood between him and his Nigerian fans and friends which generated a love-hate halo around his persona. Nevertheless, the Koko Master continued on his upward trajectory.
At the moment, he is on top as one of the leading global proponents of the upswing Afro beats music, rubbing shoulders with Kanye West and the G.O.O.D Music crew and other global music stars such as Rihanna and Rita Ora.
