250 million mansion: RMD fights dirty with Linda Ikeji

Veteran Nollywood actor and current Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD is currently in a fiery war of words with model turned blogger, Linda Ikeji over an alleged false publication.
Ironically, the brawl which many believe might lead to litigation from the ace actor cum politician against the blogger was a fall out from the former’s 51st birthday celebrations, which held recently.

Their bone of contention was an innocent story Ikeji carried on her popular blog with the headline:  “RMD turns 51 today; builds multimillion Naira home in Asaba” Part of Ikeji’s story further read: “Meanwhile, the actor has acquired a palatial home said to be worth about N250 million in Asaba, Delta State, where he is the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism”.
The above post which was said to have infuriated the 2005 Africa Movie Academy Award winner (Best Actor in a Leading Role) led to an immediate response, where he openly castigated and berated Ikeji, over the online post. While debunking the story, which trended heavily on line, an angry RMD took to his social media site, Twitter and tongue lashed Ikeji for what he described as her ‘unfounded lies’.
“It has been brought to my attention that one Linda Ikeji character who I understand is a gossip has put up a story about my N250m mansion (ordinarily I will never dignify her type with a response but with the calls, texts & bbms I have received I’d like to sound a warning to her (Ikeji) to desist from fabricating stories about me & get a life, knowing the worth of a property is not rocket science & If you find a dignified career path & work hard at it you will be too busy & successful to spread unfounded lies about people”, he wrote.
From the tone of his ungentlemanly and uncouth tweet, it was very clear that RMD’s grouse was not unconnected with the ‘high’ price placed on his home by the blogger. Such ‘ridiculous’ price value, according to commentators was not in the interest of the politician who is currently in public service, and might necessitate a probe.
However, since the post of the alleged ‘unfounded lies’, fans of Linda Ikeji Blog have been lambasting and lampooning the respected thespian turned politician, for taking an innocent post very personal.
