After a grueling two-week trial, the Hudson family murder trial has come to
a close.
William Balfour stands accused of killing singer Jennifer Hudson’s mother,
brother, and nephew in 2008.
The defense made its final statements on Tuesday.
The jurors are now in closed session and will deliberate on a verdict.
Throughout the case, the defense argued that only circumstantial evidence
pointed to him being the murderer. Last week it was announced that the
suspect’s DNA was not even found on the murder weapon. However, forensic
scientists insist that a male DNA was present and concluded his DNA would not
be on the weapon if he wore gloves or wiped the weapon clean.
In April, the singer shared with the court her last moments with her family,
reminiscing that they surprised her at home.
“I was so surprised. That was the last time I saw them. Thank God I had the
opportunity,” she said.
