Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has been crowned the world's best-dressed woman, beating the Duchess of Cambridge and Victoria Beckham.

Kate, in fourth place, is a newcomer on the coveted annual list, and ranks higher than her sister Pippa Middleton, who is 47th.

Harry Potter's Emma Watson slips from top spot in 2011 to second place in Glamour magazine's top 50.

Former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole also drops from second to eighth in the rankings, but the magazine says the pop star has the "fashion factor nailed".

Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria has shot up 12 places to third, with the magazine praising the "adorable co-ordinating looks" she shares with "her new favourite accessory" - baby daughter Harper.

This year's top 10 is completed by flame-haired singer Florence Welch (fifth), My Week With Marilyn actress Michelle Williams (sixth), Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively (seventh), US socialite and reality TV star Olivia Palermo (ninth) and chart star Rihanna (tenth).

Kristen - Bella Swan in the hit Twilight films - is number one for transcending from "awkward teen to style queen" and for always being "effortlessly on-trend". The US actress also tops the best-dressed couple rankings with her British boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson.

The top 20 includes Kate Moss (11), Kelly Rowland (14), Keira Knightley (15) and Dannii Minogue (16), who has her own fashion label. Her sister Kylie is at 45.

In the worst-dressed list, Katie Price is top, followed by Lady Gaga. The five best-dressed couples are completed by British actor Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Beyonce and Jay-Z, German actress Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, and Brad Pitt and Jolie.
