Ryan Seacrest, who was previously announced as a member of NBC's Summer Olympics coverage team, has inked a multiplatform deal with NBC Universal that will keep him in the family fold for two more years.
But just
what does NBC mean when it calls Seacrest's new contract
"groundbreaking"?
For
starters, in addition to his continuing red carpet duties and post as managing
editor of E! News, Seacrest will have an increased presence on NBC's
news, entertainment and sports programming, from the Today show to
prime-time events.
"Today,
I am humbled to have the confidence of [network executives] Steve Burke, Ted
Harbert, Bonnie Hammer and many others within the NBCUniversal family, to
strategically extend my relationship to encompass NBC programming," the
37-year-old host-of-all-trades said in a statement.
Oh, and he's
still got his morning show on KIIS-FM and at least two more years of hosting American
Idol on his plate. Is anyone else craving a power nap just thinking about
it?!
